I think that it is wrong that we have to teach GCSE in one year when most other GCSE courses are just doing a resit eg English, Maths History, Geography etc. At the same time however I do think that the OCR specs are currently easier to teach in one year because they are more skill based. I am waiting for lots of criticism from AQA teachers.

The current OCR GCSE specs already cover these areas as approaches. The current 6 approaches are

Social Psychology;

Behavioural Psychology;

Developmental Psychology;

Individual Differentiation;

Cognitive Psychology;

Bio-psychology.

The current AQA GCSE cover the following sections

Section A Cognitive Psychology
Section B Social Psychology
Section C Developmental Psychology
Section D Pro- and Anti-Social Behaviour

It would seem that AQA will have to make the most changes. However, part of the aim of the new changes is that the “content will be updated, be more consistent and comparable between the different awarding bodies”. Therefore both specifications it would seem will have to make more than a few superficial changes.
